So what's it all about ...
The SG training posse are coming to California in January 2010 for a residential retreat-style Creativity Consultant training programme. You will learn all about the SG products, build your knowledge, practical skills and confidence while we work you jolly hard! (You'll get to play hard too tho'!) When you're all done you'll have a book full of gorgeous samples to show off, and you'll be exhausted but buzzing with new ideas and passion! It's certainly not like school, but we are very serious about art, and you will need to be dedicated to become fully accredited. The programme has been tested, re-written, and revised many times over the last three years, finally we are ready to launch to the world!
City & Guilds Accreditation SG201 has received approval to offer accreditation through City & Guilds of London, for a Level 2 Design Sampling Unit. Those of you who successfully complete the SG course will be invited to present your portfolio of work to C&G examiners for accreditation, which is part of the Creative Techniques Award in textiles. Further units can be studied and combined to work towards a C&G Diploma program. Your qualification is externally recognised in related creativite-employments.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The SG course is split into 2 units- the first unit is all the creative stuff and takes 5 days full-time. The second unit is just a one-day course to cover all the business stuff. It's based on the same program that we currently use to train our Retail stores with... so you will learn very specific applied information about how to understand the SG paints & products, how and when to use them, how to combine different techniques to success, how to develop workshops and assist other students. It is not a general course for purely creative or therapeutic reasons, but a fairly demanding, challenging at times, and practical course to train you to understand, use and demonstrate the SG products to their maximum potential. Having said that, I guarantee it will be both highly therapeutic, individual, multi-functional and extremely creative!!!
Being a Creativity Consultant is a real opportunity to build your own business, from part-time hours to fit around your hobbies, busy schedule or family commitments, up to a rewarding full-time career. After qualifying, you can work as a freelance SG consultant by taking bookings for workshops, art-parties, supplying SG products, demonstrating in stores, etc. Earn increasing levels of discount as your business grows, and enjoy exciting product incentives too! There will not be any pressure to sell anything at all, or recruit - our emphasis is on enjoyable, shared learning, and matching the right products to customer needs. You can of course do the course purely for your own enjoyment, it's not just for working girls!
The course is divided into 2 main units:
SG201 CREATIVITY for YOU (creative techniques and practical surface design) - This course covers the first 5 Rainbow Levels - RED ORANGE YELLOW GREEN BLUE during 5 full days of in-depth residential retreat-style classes, with 3 hours of additional playtime, which is in the format of optional, evening tutorials. Those who wish to apply for the City & Guilds unit will also have an extra 10 hours of at-home assignments that you can do with your colleagues during the evening tutorials, or once you return home at your leisure. This course is really a total immersion into glorious surface design techniques for many textiles, paper, polymer clay, shrink plastic.
You will have a lot of fun doing SG201, growing and stretching, developing new vision & techniques to direct your own artwork. But you may want to share that knowledge with others! WHy not stay for just one extra day and become a certified SG Creativity Consultant....:
SGCS1 CREATIVITY FOR BUSINESS (developing your business as a consultant) - This course is just one-day, and covers the remaining 2 colours - INDIGO & VIOLET - there is some follow up required in the form of approximately 10 hours of at home assignments. Learn how to create exciting innovative workshop plans for 1 hour to full day lessons, create store display boards, make & take demo ideas, plan your business factfile, understanding the ordering & delivery process, discounts, your special consultant rewards & pricings, customer service & group dynamics. This will involve lots of hands on creative learning, roleplaying and fun! - Successful completion entitles you to Reseller discounts, an official Reseller listing on our website, be officially endorsed and recommended by us for workshop requests/or exhibition appearances, guild lectures etc according to your specific area of specialization.
SG301 CREATIVITY BLACK BELT program - 12 months after completion of SG201, individuals will be invited to apply for the advanced level of BlackBelt. This is a mutually agreed course of self-directed study and observed workshop practice that results in the successful candidate becoming a training consultant, able to teach SG201. You may also be invited to act as official SG demonstrators at both trade and public events, and give creative lectures where requested.
